Richard Rogers 17th September 2011

Richard Rogers, acrylic artist from South Australia presented an interesting day of "abstracting the landscape"
Richards catch cry for the day was "there are no mistakes just results"

Richard started this painting with a strip of red, yellow, and white
paint straight from the tube, then smudged them together to  make
an interesting skyline for his abstracted landscape

Heather enjoys starting yet another canvas

Deb finds the loose way of painting challenging - in a good way.

Anne studies the colours of the landscape

Christine Porter - Everything you need to know about Watercolour

Christine Porter  has been a professional watercolour artist and more recently printmaker for over 20 years and is a qualified teacher. Chris puts a great deal of preparation and effort into her tutorials.

We had an interesting day working on basic watercolour skills with each of us making up a booklet called "The Little Blue Book of Watercolour Painting".

Chris bought along lots of samples of weights, grades and brands of watercolour paper for us to try - and stick into our booklets - a great future reference.

Some of the topics covered were the elements of painting,  paper variables, the medium of watercolour, the techniques of applying paint, washes, colour and "leaving the white bits".

Christine demonstrates how the booklet works

Maggie Cross Tutorial May 2011

The subject for today was Any Subject, Any Medium

We learnt some interesting points about composition, light and shade, colour etc

Magggie set up some still life settings and some people used them while others chose to work on their own material.

We all did a few sketches of our subject to deterimine the best composition before we moved onto our canvasses.

Margaret brought along some flowers and did 2 lovely paintings

It was Eva's first tutorial and she was very happy with her painting

Angela did a great job on this cheeky fellow

Mike now paints for pleasure with his works much sort after with his work in many galleries.

Mikes tutorial day was well and truly an "outside the square" approach using acrylics in a watercolour style, using lots of water and washes with some great results. Those who attended learnt lots of unexpected tricks and ideas.
