Greg Hollis Tutorial 19th February, 2011

Greg Hollis (tutor) was an information packed day.

Greg was well prepared and he had his daughter  on hand to make his whole program run smoothly. He brought along a number of his works which he does in realistic style, but not slavish to what is actually in front of him.
We were all enraptured with his colours used to produce ocean scenes.
Greg had boards divided into 4 rectangles and he spent time showing his simple method of making clouds seem realistic in different colours and types of clouds.
He gave a variety of colour mixes to produce skies.
He showed his methods of making landscapes and rocks with paint brush and then with painting knife.
Finally he finished off the landscape showing shadows, tanks, reflections in water and how he makes an old style barn by laying the darks down first and putting the lights to represent doorways, wall boards and etc.,  He finished off with a tree and the use of his brushes - some 'doctored' a little- - to represent foliage.

We all came away with a lot of useful info and some new tricks of the trade.
It was almost 4pm when he finally called a halt -- and we all felt quite worn out !!!
